JIANGSU IMPROVES BORDER CHECKS TO STOP IMPORTED CASES OF COVID-19

On March 14, Jiangsu Governor Wu Zhenglong presided over a meeting to further promote COVID-19 prevention and controls. Specifically, controls to effectively respond to the risk of imported cases.

Wu said the province has achieved certain success in the fight against Covid-19 with the focus now turning to the rapid spread of the disease outside of China. As Jiangsu moves faster to return to work, new efforts are needed to implement precise controls according to law, and to strengthen hard-won results so far.

New policy includes increasingly aggressive border control measures to be introduced at airports and ports. Jiangsu will also increase information-sharing and coordination across the Yangtze River Delta region ensuring contact and communication with Shanghai, Beijing, and state ministries in support of Beijing’s efforts to control the pandemic. The province will make use of Big Data and the Health Code program to keep a close eye on people’s health information and travel history. Efforts will also be made at the grassroots level to prevent outbreaks in residential communities and workplaces to minimize infection risks.

Jiangsu will also pay close attention to the overseas pandemic response to continue to improve strategies and measures. The best preparation is to ensure sufficient resources are ready by supporting those on the front line of Covid-19 prevention and control.

The province will strengthen guidance and coordination across the regions, as well as helping address practical difficulties faced by foreigners and their compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, with continued service. Ongoing efforts are being made to optimize the business environment, to help foreign-invested companies to resume work and production, and to boost the driving forces of economic development.
