Wuxi Yu's Furniture Wins Zero Tax Rate in US Anti-circumvention Investigation

In June 2012, Yu’s Furniture, upon commencing exports to the US market, was investigated by the United States for “double anti”. Among them, the so-called anti-dumping punitive tariff set on Chinese wooden bedroom furniture was set as high as 216%, breaking the company’s exporting plans. In the face of trade barriers, Yu’s Furniture hired a legal team comprised of US and Chinese lawyers to conduct an anti-dumping administrative review. Additionally, Yu Furniture adjusted its product structure and marketing strategy, hiring a well-known American furniture marketer to conduct market research. After responding to the lawsuit spanning three years, Yu’s Furniture successfully won the US anti-dumping administrative review in February 2015 achieving a zero-tax rate. In October 2017, the U.S. Customs also launched an investigation into whether furniture exported to the United States was evading anti-dumping tariffs, including Yu’s Furniture. A commissioner was sent to China’s Yu’s Furniture production site to conduct inspections. With a successful history in anti-dumping, and in the face of this new anti-circumvention investigation, Yu’s Furniture responded calmly, entrusting in lawyers from China and the US for solutions. Employees of the company become both more confident, and more frustrated. In April of last year, with the join efforts of the commerce department, and Chinese and American lawyers, Yu’s Furniture passed the US anti-circumvention investigation. Exports of American furniture continue to enjoy zero tariffs.
